SEB Standard Rear Bag Filling

I have a SEB Standard Rear Bag for F/TR. I filled my bag - base and ears with Sinclair heavy sand. On the forum I see many members indicating that they fill the base of their rear bag with heavy sand and the ears with regular sand. Is there a benefit in doing this? I probably am missing something obvious. Do some of you fill the base and ears with heavy sand like I did? Thanks!

Yes!!! heavy sand or regular sand if your out of heavy sand. For my Bigfoot I used copper slag from my sandblaster. If I used heavy sand I would need a forklift at the range. My edgewood minigator I used heavy sand.

Also just my .02 Don't over think everything. Your gonna have enough to think about on the range and the reloading room. Trust me I know. lol

Dave, I use heavy sand for the ears and the body. Don't worry about it.

Thanks fellas! I'm having fun shooting and sometimes I make this stuff too complicated. Appreciate your advice. Happy New Year!

Been there done that, Many times even at one point switched to shooting left hand because I'm right handed, but left eye dominate. This sport is complicated enough. Without over thinking things.

Good Luck and enjoy the trigger time!!!!

Truer words have yet to be spoken (or written.)

You need to get out there and shoot and look at the other shooters and adapt things to your style, or not. You will see that what some people do absolutely do not work for you and the reverse is true. Make sure you are comfortable in your position and that you do not create any tension trying to hold on target, it should be natural and easy to stay on target. And remember, there is absolutely no substitute for trigger time in this sport, once you have the proper equipment, of course.

Except for maybe the ones you just put down. :-)

I'd start with heavy sand and work from there. My current setup doesn't look a thing like the setup I started with, or even the setup that I was running less than a year ago. My fill technique and material is completely different from how I started. I've been through half a dozen bags (selling the ones that didn't fit me). Once you figure out how changes to your fill technique and material affect your results on paper, you can start tinkering.

The only real answer here, IMO, is that it really doesn't matter what you fill your bags with right now, cause odds are it's gonna change real fast as you figure out what your shooting style and equipment prefer. And the only way to find that out is to fill 'er up and start shooting.
