SEB REST OR ???? NEED HELP

Hi everyone, I need some input on front rest. After finding out I was too old to shoot F class last year I started bench rest shooting, point blank and 600/1000 yd. I have a SEB that I have spent a lot of time trying to make work for my style of shooting. I have front counter weights, and have adjusted tension on the joy stick till I gave out. What happens when I get it stiff enough to stay where I need it for five shots, it jerks or stutters when I go to my sighter and I spend to much time getting back on the score target. If I get it "smooth" then it moves between shots and I spend to much time getting back to the score target. I also think it may move some as the gun fires opening up groups. I'm thinking of going to the new rest that Sinclair sells as it will be immoveable between shots and I will be able to take advantage of my RBLPRE Panda and get five off in a hurry. Any thoughts or help will be appreciated.

Hey John;

I know what you are talking about. My SEB works fine for the 'not so heavy' guns but whenn I put one of the 20+ pound guns on the rest I have the same problem. That would has got to be frustrating for a competition shooter...

John, If you like the joystick you should try a Farley. If you are looking at going with a more traditional type rest then the J&J you mentioned is hard to beat. If you want to come over to Tulsa some time with Jim you are more than welcome to try my Farley and see what you think.

+1 on the Farley, I am using one for a 6mmBr Gun at 17 lbs and a Armalite 50 BMG at 38 lbs, when I ordered mine Mike beefed up the bearings to take the extra weight of the BMG and she is smooth and solid, I am very happy with the control, give them a call and see, mine was only a few weeks to get. Good Luck

Keith

Try removing the rubber pieces in the front and rear of the joy stick. Also try using a 1"x5" piece of steel on the front of the joystick for smoothness. It helped mine alot.

I had heard whispers of problems you mentioned. I have also heard of other mods people have done to the SEB rest for using with heavy guns. Have you tried extra counter weights? My SEB rest will hopefully be here in the next few days so I will be wanting to get it right as well.
