SEB NEO vs SEB mini for F class.

SEB NEO vs SEB mini for F class.

Is everyone happy with their SEB mini rests for F-class? Do you feel there is any disadvantage to the SEB mini vs the SEB NEO for F-class?

I have not used the "Mini" but I have seen quite a few of them. I own 2 NEO's.. It would be difficult to imagine literally ANYTHING even being the equal of the NEO! That does NOT mean the Mini's are not a good front rest>>>it is just difficult for me to make them the equal of the NEO.. Just my 2 cents..

I am more than happy with my mini for F open. Rock solid and not super heavy to haul around.

I have the mini and like it, but I’ve never shot off the NEO.. The mini is compact, breaks down easily and is a fine piece of equipment. It can adjust to just about any firing point regardless of uneven ground.. Hopefully most firing points won’t be too bad though.. I like to keep the saddle on my mini down near the main hub, so I try to use the legs to get the proper height instead of the center post/wheel. This is challenging sometimes on the first relay of the day or if your shooting a match from different firing points. Also, when you transport the mini in the bag sideways, the sand in front bag can shift slightly but there are solutions to that. Also, you will need some FClass feet for it... Good luck with your decision.. Either way, you got a SEB and that’s a good thing...

I have both, and I can say that both of them offer different things. The new is my preferred rest. It is easier to adjust the elevation than the mini. I have more trouble with that aspect when dealing with the mini. The mini offers portability. The Neo is more bulky and heavier. As for the steering, both set ups feel very similar. The neo has a better finish than the mini. The bags of both are a bit different. I think that both set ups can win a big match any day. The mini is easier to line up the rifle with the rear bag due to the rotation of the front bag. The Neo does not rotate. Pick one and get comfortable with it. You cannot go wrong with either one of them. Its hard to get real good if you are switching between rests. It takes a different approach to handle it on the line. You need to make different adjustments on both while shooting. Both rests are awesome. Buy one and stick to it.

If your old and beat up, the mini is your friend. By the the time I get to the line with all of my gear; I'm wore out. I guess I'm going to have to start loading my rests with "snowflakes" instead of sand.

Bryan Sumoba has both and has been cleaning up with the mini lately. Maybe he'll chime in.

Like i said, both set up a are capable of winning any match. They are simply different. You have a light weight and a heavy weight. The light weight is a bit more difficult to manage at the line but easier to carry to the line. The neo is heavier to carry to line but easier to handle once set up at the line.

I have had the SEB NEO for 2-3 years and love it for bench and P-DOG shooting. I have an order in for the mini to use JUST for P-DOG hunting and have not received it yet. Should I keep the order coming or just continue to use the NEO ??

I have both and use both in different situations. I use my NEO with large feet for all my F-Class shooting. I find it to be a little easier to set up and I think it is a little more stable. I use my MINI without feet (just the screws that came with it) for my bench work. My NEO with the feet on it is too tall for my bench and I have attached my large feet with Loctite because I got tired of them coming loose during use.

For shooting off the bench at dogs the MINI has the advantage of the head rotating until you lock it down. This would be much easier than moving the NEO each time the angle changed on your shot. If you travel by air the MINI is the better choice also.

If I could only afford one I would probably buy the NEO - but either will work fine and the joystick works the same on both. I don't travel to matches by air so that helps with my decision.

I would go to a match and try both our for yourself. All the F-Class shooters I know would be more than happy to let you play with their rests - they are a great bunch of people!
