SEB Mini Tripod Rest

Ive had my eyes on a Farley for years. ive shot off my friends Farleys and really liked the joystick. The problem is I'm not a bench rest shooter. I shoot primarily PRS matches, local club varmint shoots, and hunt.

I came across the SEB Mini tripod rest by accident really. I really think it may work for me. I primarily want something to help when doing load development or banging steel at our 1200yd range. But I could also see myself using it when I ground hog hunt prone from ridge tops here in PA.

Has anybody gotten their hands on one of these SEB Minis?

For the price I just dont see it making any sense to order a Sinclair bench top rest...And the Farley and SEB bench tops don't seem to be as portable or "field friendly" for what I'm looking to do.

ive looked over the articles on the web. Seems nice. I'm just looking for more real life data. If anyone has used one for ground hog or prairie dog hunting...If anyone has used it with "non bench rest style stocks with wide forends", etc

I received my Seb Mini a couple of weeks ago and after going over it and testing I sold my Neo.

The Mini is every bit as good as a Neo, but its portability takes it to another level. It has a footprint that is bigger then the Neo and therefore as/more stable.

I predict that the Mini will trump the Neo for most shooters with the possible exception of Benchresters. As far as it being less costly, well .... that's icing on the cake.

Joe

PS I shoot F-Class and my rifle has a 3" forearm. No problem there.

I have a mini and a neo. like any seb products I've used it is well made. My only dislike with the mini is that the leg stop screws can interfere with the the mariner (gross vertical adj.) wheel. Just need to watch they don't touch the wheel. I find it a a tad cumbersome to adj. and lock gross elevation compared to the neo. I prefer to use this rest with my guns that have a sloped stock allowing room for gross changes with the rear bag as the sand settles. I mostly shoot lrbr and bought this for ground matches and br. I'll keep with the neo for br. I don't see any issues with stability with either on a table. The mini might have an edge in the dirt.
Very nice rest.

I have a SEB Mini, and I use it for load development and for prairie dogs. I use a 3'' wide fore end on my prairie dog rifles, and I have the F Class Products Mini Mod Top Mod top link
I have the one piece bottom bag style, so it is legal for benchrest. I 3D printed a 4" long block to provide a flat bottom and about 3/4" high sides, which I mounted to the stocks with screws into brass inserts

The side pieces of the rest slide to fit the fore end, and you clamp them in place with the levers. I believe the new mini X style has this feature. It is handy to use on any width fore end.

The use of a joystick when prairie dog hunting is a big step forward. For larger elevation changes I have a stock that has slope on the underside of the butt, and I slide it rearward to add elevation. Elevation adjustments by the mariner wheel are not useful, too coarse, and to much trouble to unlock and lock.

Here are some pics of my set up.

The tall thing is a Kestrel 5700 , I am running Applied Ballistics and all I have to do is range the dog with my Leica binocs, enter the range on my iphone, and touch a button for Direction of Fire , and I get windage and elevation clicks displayed on the iphone.
