Seating to avoid donuts

Gonna be chambering my f/tr barrel within the next week or so with a tight neck reamer. I'm going to use a throater to set my throat length for 180-190 grain bullets. I will be turning my brass and want to do what I can now to avoid donuts in the neck later. Does the entire base of the bullet need to be out past the neck should junction for this to work? Looks like the 190's would need to be around 3.050, am I on the right track?

If the bullet shank is seated ~.030" forward of the neck-shoulder junction, the donut will be avoided. That may require specific freebore dimensions to accomplish but will also provide some extra powder space, especially valuable in .308.

+1

Avoid it by proper chamber freebore .

Best thing ever.

I run the neck turn cutter down till it touches the shoulder
After firing section the neck with a Dremel tool and look
at the neck / shoulder junction , if there is thinning you have gone to far down, if there is a doughnut you need to cut a little more down onto the shoulder.
Also the cutter should have the same angle as the shoulder.

Any of y'all running the 185 or 190 bergers. The best I can tell 2.310 ogive measured will put me in front of possible donut area.
