Seating on the ogive

I have great accuracy with SST and ballistic tips for deer loads. However, I want to seat on the ogive, not the bullet tip. The plastic tips must vary in length. Who makes a good die for this?

The seating die seats off the ogive. You can buy the Hornady cartridge base to ogive comparator set to measure your loaded ammo off the ogive vs the tip.

The Redding Comp seater works well but with some bullets you will need to make sure the tip is not touching inside the seater stem. They have an extra stem called VLD seater stem that works better with certain bullets.

The Frankford Arsenal Universal seater die also works well with no glitches for me.

If wanting to use an inline seater the Wilson would be the go to die.

Hornady makes special seaters for those shaped pills. Give them a call.

The Forster Ultra Micrometer Seater has as a default a stem that works with almost a VLD-shaped bullets; I only run into issues with heavy copper monolithics.

They shouldn't, but they do. RCBS die BTW

Get a VLD seating stem. Thats what they are made for....To seat off he ogive...
