Seating depth test

Has anybody done a seating depth test while fire forming brass? I have a new 6.5 x-47 Lapua Barrel that I just started on. Did a quick test and found 40.6 grains h4350 behind a 140 grain hybrid shoots pretty good. I was going to get through these first hundred brass before I start any serious load work but figured maybe I could do the seating depth test while fire forming.

For me it would depend what the cases will be used for. If there for match brass/set, myself would not test nothing with them, keeping the loads at equal pressures as possible, so that all the "blow" lengths and diameters form as equal as possible to each other.
In fact, I don't ever test with my match sets, but instead build "test brass" from the same lot, for those very reasons. I want all the cases in my match sets to blow, iron, and remain close to the same of each other, every cycle. I have also retired match sets from match duty, to be used as test brass.

It depends on your chamber. How much does your fire formed brass grow in your chamber. When you resize the brass and set the shoulders back .001 -.002", how close is that to the new brass dimension? When I built my 6.5x47 I set the headspace with piece of new brass. When I resize my brass I am essentially putting the brass back to new brass dimensions. When I went to a long range school last spring I had some ammo that was loaded with fire formed brass and some that was new brass. I could not tell any difference in the performance of the different brass.

If your chamber is larger/longer then that is a different situation.

Ya..that's kinda what I figured. I think I'll load up the last 50+ and go out and have some fun on steel.. I left most of it out this winter, so i have steel to as far as I can shoot . I will then have all 100 FFed with a good load (40.6 H4350 @ 2833). Just point and shoot!!
