Season Ending

Well the hunting season is winding to an end today and below is my
2018 Big game Summary
5 Animals- 1 bear, 1 antelope, 3 deer
1 Rifle-Rem 700 Custom build in a 6mm Creedmoor
1 Shooter- me...
6 Bullets-Hornady 103 ELD-X
2175 yards total - shortest 50 yds, longest 923 yds
Average Kill Distance=435.6 yds
But I see that 4 hrs east of here the anterless elk season is open till Feb. 15, so there is still a chance to fill the elk tag.

Rifle is a Remington 700 action, blue printed, custom bolt knob with Proof Research medium Palma 7.5 twist 5 groove SS barrel set in a Grayboe Renegade stock with MPA bottom metal & mags topped with a Vortex Viper PST Gen ll 3-15X44 scope with level and throw lever and a Harris bi-pod

Cade, I notice that you've been a member for around four years, yet you have only 95 posts. Many of us here have many hundreds or even thousands of posts on this forum but it seems that we don't have near the bragging rights that you have for this season. Hmmmm... That's wierd. jd

Cade,

Great looking rifle. Can you tell us the yardages shot for each animal? Congrats on a great 2018 season. Nicely done!:D:D

The deer that ran 50 yds was shot at 50 yds. The rest purdy much dropped right in their tracks. Bear right at 200, antelope 528, deer 473 and 924, all measured with a Sig Kilo 2000. Still hoping to fill the elk tag as there is one area still open.

Cade, where was the hit on the deer shot at 924yds???
Full penetration, or did you find the bullet???
AAAnnndd, what chambering???

Son and I practiced on 10" steel plates, to 650 yards with our Rifles, over Sticks and Packs,.. we shot 2 Bull elk this year ( Freezers FULL,..yippee ! ) Mine at 60 yards his at, 250 yards,.. LOL, ! But we were ready to shoot, farther if necessary. Son uses a 7mm-08 w/ Horn 150 grain ELD-X @ 2,850 FPS ( worked great ) I used my .270 WSM, w/ Nosler 140 AccuBond's @ 3,140 FPS, just behind the shoulder,.. jumped once,.. and dead ! Both Rifles were, Tikka's @ 7.5 pounds and EZ to carry,.. as we Hunt-walk, far !
Selling our 10 pound +, .300 WSM and .338 WM Rifles was the best "move" ever for us ! Heavy Cannon's, are not necessary, for Elk if you,.."Hunt" ! And,.. good hunting/ shooting, Cade, with a very nice looking Rifle, too !

Glad to hear the 103 ELD-X performed good. I am thinking of putting together a 6mm of some sort, but unsure on what bullet I want to run. Strictly a hunting gun no competition. Leaning between the Eld-x or 105 and 115 Berger Hunting. Have you used any of the Bergers on Game? If so how did they Perform? I run Berger in most of my other guns.
