Sears catalog from 1902

When a dollar was actually worth a dollar!
I was wondering about that too. Today, around my neck of the woods, a cup of coffee costs about $1.50. There are exceptions to that but that's the norm.

A US silver dime has .07234 oz of silver in it. At silver price of $22.68 per oz that represents $1.64 per dime for its silver value. So, a cup of coffee for $1.50 isn't so bad although it seems to be. The key here is, has your take home pay kept up with inflation? A very key factor.

I was in a Sears catalog house the other day. Pretty cool coincidence.
When Sears was still going strong in the 1990's we re-did the interior of our second house. Stove, refrig, carpet, tile floor....everything came from Sears and was put in by their contracted installers. It was a one stop shopping center for things like that. We were very pleased with the quality and the installation work. I miss perusing their tool sections!!

As I remember We said Monkey Wards and Sears Row Bucks ! They were Brothers a story went.
Still got Boxes of 20ga. Shoot Gun Shells ( Get one out for the Post).
On a Gun Closeout got a Argentinian Mauser Rifle for $67.00 and Boxes of Ammo $1.

Did some preservation work on a teen's? Sears house. There are two, side by side. In pretty durn nice shape. I was impressed with the overall quality. Definitely down a click from full on builds at that time, but very nicely put together and easy to work on. Middle aged owners were rightfully proud of it,and think they got it from the original owners?

A lot of those old catalog pages at my grandparents farm but they Are down the old outhouse hole!
LOL....There was an episode were metal detecting clubs searched
old basements and outhouse pits. A Roe Bucker catalog was found
wrapped in tar paper. Late 20's from what could be read.
