Search for "F" class rules

First Time competitor has a question, just competed in first 50 cal FCSA match at Quantico at 1000 yards and had a ball, learned I need to read mirage, DUH, but almost as important was I need to read and understand the rules first, I am interested in F Class and haven't found any definative rule book, seems the rules change with the range, distance, and sometimes with match director, is there a standard rule book somewhere? With FCSA it is sent along with membership, but I have not found any standard F class official anything except you. Any help is appreciated and Thanks

Thanks for the link, I should have remembered the NRA.

Is there a normal distance or is it determined by the range, I saw many distances in the rules but no recommendation, haven't seen any F class matchs advertised around North Florida so will probably have to travel a little to visit/compete.

Thanks Keith

This might serve as a better link, as it is the last update on the Rules as of Jan. 09.

The distance of the Match depends on what type and the Range, Mid- Range (300yds, or a 300, 500 and 600yd or even a staight 600yd) where Long Range is 800, 900 and 1000yds)

In Fl. they hold F-Class Matches at the Manatee Range near Sarasota, on the second Sunday of the Month.

You may want to contact the State Rifle and Pistol Assoc. and search for High Power or Fullbore Matches as F-Class is rarely shot alone.

KeithK,
If you want to shoot .50 cal matches, you are not going to find many ranges in Florida that will allow it. Secondly, NRA F-class rules limit the caliber to .35. I had no trouble at all finding the FCSA rule book on their website. Here's the link...

KeithK.
Your 50 BMG will not be allowed in any NRA registered F-Class match that I know of because there is a .35 caliber limit in the rules. But, one of the few places where you can plink with a 50BMG is the Manatee Gun and Archery Club is Myakka City Florida about 20 miles east of Bradeton. You shoot reactive targets at 1000 yards and use target stands at distances from 100 to 565 yards on their multipurpose range. This is a public range where you pay by the day or you can join the club and pay reduced daily rates. They operate Thursday thru Sunday year round. Very nice place to shoot. As someone said earlier, they do have F-Class matches once a month, at 300 yards I believe.

Thanks for the new link and info, I have shot at Manatee before and as said its a great place to shoot, but its 5 hours from Jacksonville and therefore a 2 day trip.I usually take the camper and enjoy myself with the 50 at 1000 yards.

I have a 6MM BR I want to try my hand at at 1000 yards, and I was hoping to use it in some F class too, but if the matchs are on Sunday it will take a couple days leave to go, as far as the 50 BMG matchs, Nick Mullet of North Coast Shooters association has secured a match at Camp Blanding south of Jacksonville, he's waiting on a date maybe between Jan and March next year, that will make a first for Florida I believe. Anyway, Thanks guys for the info and links, if F Class is half as much fun as 50 BMG matchs are, I know I will have a great time.

Have you looked at the Bradford Sportman Farm over near Waldo? Scout1 who posts here shoots over there and I think they have had matches there. Post Malabar Gun Club near Melbourne also hosts regular 600 yard F-Class matches including a big shoot over New Years weekend this year.

Yes, I have shot over at Bradford Sportsman Farm, Great People, I have used it mainly for shooting my 50 BMG, thier schedule isn't really great with my work schedule, but I think I am going to have to make some changes if I want to shoot F Class over there, shouldn't be too bad, but I don't have unlimited leave yet, thats not for another 6-7 years. Thanks for the link too and info.
