Screw size

Anyone know off hand the size and threads of a Ruger MKII front sight screw with a 10" barrel?

I know it is not 6-32 (but really close to it)

If you need a screw for it try Ace Hardware, they have a cabinet with special sized screws - they even have drawers of gunsmith screws.

p.s. - I do not have a Ruger but I would think that it is more than likely a 6-48, that is a more common size used on firearms.
Regardless they are cheap enough that you can get one of each just to be sure you have the right one and not have to make another trip.

Ruger says 6x40. After all they made it. Tommy Mc

Thanks guys.

I went to the Ace hardware and they only stocked 6-32 screws. I know of a better hardware store that I will go to next time.

Surprised your local ACE doesn't have it - obviously their fastener department isn't as good as my local ACE. The rare times I strike out there, my fall back is the same as shoobeO1's.

It should be the same as any scope base screw . So if you have a package of weaver , burris , leupold bases with spare screws , your set !
