Screw and glue on a Savage PTA?

I thought about doing a screw and glue on my Savage PTA and want experiences or advice. I'd like to try relieving some of the current bedding in inch wide strips, one strip between each set of action screws. The current bedding has shot pretty good but I'm looking for anything extra this year, my club competition is getting really tough and I could use every X. Thoughts?

Glue it 100%. All you gotta do is run over the current bedding with a dremel enough to give some space for the glue- so like less than 50% or so but all over. Then your old bedding is still there but you have tooth for the new glue and you wont have to worry about shrinkage in the differing bands you have drawn

I have owned a lot of savage's and gluing it in permanently wont make much if any difference. A good bedding job and playing with screw torque goes a long way. On the 3 screw target actions I torque the rear at 35 inch pounds and the middle at 15 and front at 65 .You can play with value's of the front and back but that works best for mine. I have one bedded into a McMillan and it is rock solid. Give it some thought.

Well, after the last few days I'm going to hold off and try it instead on the back-up rifle I'm building. I got the new Krieger all spun up and fitted, I just decided I couldn't break it in and do much load development in the 2 days I had before the match. So I took it all apart and screwed back on my cheap X-caliber barrel I chambered over the winter. It has only 200 rounds through it but I have it dialed in pretty well. Went out and shot a 200-16x, 200-9x for testing and shot a 200-18x for the first night of our local 600 yard F-open league for best score of the night. After all this I decided to not touch anything unless the barrel really starts to go downhill.
