Scratches on case neck

Neck sizing some .223 and got scratching on the case neck. They're clean and lubed and I've cleaned the die as well as I can. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, James

It looks like the die is picking up brass and scratching the case neck.

Causes.

Not deburring the outside of the case mouth enough.

The die between the neck-shoulder junction is rough and picking up brass.

Fixes.

Clean the dies neck with a strong copper bore cleaner to remove the brass.

Use a snug fitting shotgun cleaning mop attached to a drill and apply J&B Bore paste, automotive rubbing compound, etc and polish the neck-shoulder junction.

I have had same scratches on new RCBS dies. Redding/Hornady, no scratches. I did do same treatment as Uncle Ed mentioned on RCBS dies, worked fine.
Not sure if RCBS is little more coarse than Redding or Hornady.

May come from trimmed brass that was not chamfer & deburr before neck sizing. Or carbon that was not removed first.
