scratch on neck with redding bushing? why

DSC00990.jpg

I started to resize the neck on a brand new box of lapua 6br brass. after about 5 or 6 brass when thru redding competition neck sizing die with .268 bushing. scratches started to show on the neck. what happened? would it affect the accuracy? how to fix it? or do I need to fix it?

the bushing and die are all brand new.

please help:confused:

SanQ,

Is that by chance a TIN Redding bushing, I have one TIN redding bushing that scratches the case a little. Sent it back to Redding and the replacement does not scratch at all. I always use Imprial Wax for a lube even with TIN bushings.

It looks to me as if the bushing was not polished out. Why dont you give Redding a call, they are very easy to deal with.

In my experience,

Wilson bushings are almost the equal, and most times, as good as, the coated bushings for less money.

I've only had a couple of the Redding steel bushings, and to put it mildly, they suck. SanQ, looks like that's what your using. I tried polishing mine out with steel wool and Flitz several times, spinning it till it got too hot to hang on to.
I tried all kinds of lube also. Nothing helped, except a new coated one, and my troubles went bye bye.

I don't lube my coated ones, either.

I've had the same problem,so I lubed the neck more and that didn't help. I tried deburing the outside of the neck before sizing and that took away all marks.Seems that the case caused the marks them self.Still gotta lube the necks.
