Scott Parker scale

Sparker wants to sell tuned scales that he has in stock. I have had some PM conversations with him. He seems to discourage those that want to send in their scales saying the may or not be USA made and are not worthy of his efforts to tune. But he makes no effort to help identify whether my (our) scales are USA made or not. Even when sending photos Sparker replies like "not a USA specific color" and then won't make an effort to identify.

I have a really nice Ohaus 1010 that is very accurate and was considering having it tuned by Sparker . Too much run around from Sparker wanting me to buy a tuned scale he already has tuned and in stock.

He is starting to come off to me as a rascal and I would prefer not to deal with him.

That is hilarious! Is he a rascal or a scalywag! Have not heard that term used in decades. All in good fun of course. I have had no dealings with Sparker on a scale, but I would imagine dealing with the Chinese junk scales on the market would be very tiresome at best. He probably has favorites to work on for a great end product.

A scalywag is far worse than a rascal. He hasn't digressed to skalywag yet. I agree dealing with the chinese junk scales on the internet is very tiresome and understand that. For me and everyone else. Getting help on identification is not good.

If he doesn't want to work on certain scales I totally understand that. It would be nice if he would let us now which of these scales he does/does not work on. It appears to me it's buy one of his scales out of his stock or your not going to get a scale of his tuned by him.

That's a perfectly acceptable way for him to run his business and accept that but I am so frustrated trying to get clear communication from him that I gave up on him long ago.

A few years back, I bought an oil dampened Redding scale from him . It is pretty amazing. The communication and transaction were 1st rate.

When he sources scales to tune he knows what he is looking for and what won't work. Buying from him would be the way to go. If you send him an un-tunable unit it would be a pain in the ass for all parties.

I as a rule do not sell 10-10s. I have tuned 100s of them because that is what people have. Tuning is an investment of my time, knowledge and experience and a financial investment on your part. I want to give my customers the best result possible. It is always better to start with a known quality and proceed from there. There are some 10-10s that are relatively easy to recognize as USA made. Others not so much.

As for “nettle” if I do not have any money or scales of yours, then your post is 100% out of line and misleading. Please note that I do not advertise. People find me. I am happy to help anyone who acts in good faith. I know what is required in a high precision beam scale, I know how to make them sing. Some scales sing higher notes than others.

With all due respect I will agree you have mislead me.

I had a redding #2 I called about getting Scott to put his voodoo on. He preferred to sell me a #1 he had already worked for multiple reasons, ready to go with no wait, knew it was quality and no issues unforeseen before mine arrived, and most importantly, he's the expert and knew what would be best.
Never question the artist, just admire the art

Scott sold me one of his Redding#1. I check my Electronic scales with it. The Oil damping is very fast.
