Scope

And is your 243 a custom gun, an Axis, or somewhere in between? Are you walking and calling, sitting and shooting, how heavy is your gun, bipod, sticks, ATV, off the hood of the 4x4?

I ask all this because if you are calling, using sticks and humping it across a quarter section, shooting a Savage Axis, then a Burris mini or a Leupold 2-7 is fine. If you are shooting a custom target rifle from one mountain hill to another, then you might consider a high power variable.

Every single suggestion here makes sense...in some scenario...but not every.

I would suggest Vortex or Burris or even a Leupold eithe used or new in the VX2 price range, and match the power, weight and size to your application

Now, I am off to drag race my 1958 36HP VW Bug...

I don't know how you hunt coyotes, I call them all across the west and I've been fooling around with rifles and scope for coyotes for a long time. My favorite scope on combo guns is the Leupold VX series 1-4x20s. For most of my bolt actions the Leupold 1.5-5x20, various 1.5-6x40s, Sightron 1.75-5x32, and Leupold 1.75-6x32 work well and I keep a 22-250AI HB rifle set up with a Athlon 2-12x40 though I rarely use it.

Every scope mentioned is an easy 300 yard coyote scope plus at home when they are at your shoelaces.

For me calling coyotes isn't a long range game, most are under a 100 yards and half of those under 50. So I'd rather have a larger FOV than a lot of X's.

What’s a good scope that won’t break the bank talking $1000 dollars and under the scope I got on my 243 isn’t getting it done not a good scope. So have to replace it . Just want some ideas.

For hunting, Leupold VX III or VX IV with a heavy duplex will handle deer sized game for under $1000 and you'll have dinner money to boot
