Scope

What’s a good scope that won’t break the bank talking $1000 dollars and under the scope I got on my 243 isn’t getting it done not a good scope. So have to replace it . Just want some ideas.

I have been a big fan of sightron s-tac. I have a few of the 4x20 and i think its the 3x16.
My last two scopes have been vortex viper hd 3x15. I only went with the vortex due to the Reticle is a little thicker than the sightron and wanted to be able to see it clearly in low light hunting situations.

This can't be answered. You need to look at scopes in the power range you need, at the price you have decided on. Weight may need to be addressed (how far do you have to carry it). Does it need to fit the height and diameter of the rings you now have or are you willing to buy new rings? Does the maker or seller stand behind the scope or are you on your own 2 months down the road? Even if you find the perfect scope how often does this model fail, how many are duds when new? I fought a rifle for a year and never looked at the scope cause it was brand new, junk from the box. An issue I never knew existed was coatings on lenses. One day at the range the sky was overcast from horizon to horizon, most scopes looked like they were filled with milk, the very good ones were still clear. You need to do the research on this yourself and find something you can live with.

best scope?
Zeiss - Hensoldt
-----------------------
Good scope?
There are quite a few
I would lean toward anything
Made in Japan
or With Schott glass
Then you know you got your moneys worth
-----------------------
A used Bausch and Lomb 6-24 will rival a Leupold in the same magnifcation range
Bushnell Elites are awesome if they are Japan made
Tract - Has Schott Glass
----------------------
Other than that, I have seen it be a gamble for China, Phillipines scopes
they may have nice features, or even good glass, but poor repetition or accuracy, canted reticles etc

Maven rs1.2 is a good scope with a good track record of holding zero and dialing correctly. I have one and like it. But of course it depends on what you are wanting to do with it. It's ffp so not the scope for benchrest or paper punching at known distance.

Tommie in Wyo: 3/4 ton RAM diesel 4x4.

Scope: hard to beat a Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18x44 or a Leupold 4.5-14x40mm. Both can be had here for less than your $1000 budget.
