Scope windage adjustment

Reason I started this little thread is I was wondering how a scope really worked. If in a controlled environment or tunnel or zero wind at all, if I sighted in a rifle and let’s just say I zeroed it 1” to the right at 100 yards. It should still be to the right 1” at 200 and 1” right at 300 and so on. Elevation I understand how it works was just curious about the windage. I guess if wind was involved and it drifted my bullet 1” right at 400 then yes 1 click left should be back on target

As mentioned no it won't be off 1" on out as it's angular so if you are 1 moa or 1 inch off at 100 yards then you will be 1 moa off at 400 yards also which is about 4.19" at 400. Windage works just like elevation. Both in MOA but instead of up and down it's right and left.

So how a scope works with windage is like elevation does ? If I were to have it 1” at 100 let’s say off to the right Then at 200 it would be 2” off to the right and 3” at 300 ?

Yup. What scope and reticle do you have?

I have numerous scope brands, reticles, both mil and moa. I don’t have any problems or trouble just didn’t know how the internals of scopes worked if the windage operated like the elevation did. I always zero windage dead on at 100 so I never seen the effects of it being off at other ranges
