Scope Warranty Service

Somehow the stars aligned against me on a few of my hunting guns this last season and I have two scopes that need to be serviced. The first is an older Nikon Monarch 4-12 that will not hold zero. Checked all of the mounting and everything was in good shape, just wont hold zero, fails the box drill. So to get me through the season i had a NIB vortex diamondback 3-12 that i purchased on sale and not yet mounted on anything. The vortex got me through the season and worked great for the money but it also has a problem. The scope ordered and the box received indicate 1/4MOA clicks but the scope is 1/2MOA clicks both vertical and horizontal. I dealt with this as it wasn't a big issue but now that season is over its time to send them both back. I have decided to post the experience with both companies to shine some light on both of their warranties. I'm hold with nikon as i type this and will let you all know how the experience goes.

Sent a 20 year old Nikon 6-24x scope back last year and they repaired the elevation adjustment perfectly. I happened to have the original box and warranty. Warranty said I needed to forward the original bill of sale with the scope for repair. Fortunately, I had kept the receipt in the box all these years, so service was not a problem.

So far here is the status. After 15 minutes on the phone with Nikon they emailed the information needed to ship the scope in however I have to pay the shipping to them. The link emailed required me to submits some information and then spit out a printable form to include with the scope, not sure why they didn't just email the form as the phone tech took down all of the same information. Total time spent was around 20 minutes, not sure what shipping is going to run me yet.

Vortex call took 4 minutes and resulted in them sending me a shipping label fully paid to send the scope in for repair. The emailed shipping label arrived in less than 15 minutes. Only complaint is that the label is for Fedex, not their fault i didn't even ask for a UPS label as their drop off center is much more convenient. Not enough so to ask Vortex to go through and redo the label even if they could.
