Scope thoughts

Was wondering if anyone has compared the new Sightron SIII 8x32x56 vs a Weaver T-36 what are your views.

Chet

Chet, about the only thing these scopes have in common is high magnification.

The Sightron is about double the cost. Figure $800 vs. $400 or so for the Weaver.

The Sightron has a 56mm objective. The Weaver has a 40mm objective.

Internal adjustment range of the Sightron is about 70 MOA. I think the Weaver is about 60 MOA, but I've not checked mine in quite some time.

Sightron has side parallax adjustment. Weaver has Adjustable Objective to deal with parallax.

Sightron is a bigger, heavier scope, in case your overall rig needs to be under a certain weight.

Sightron has a 30mm maintube, Weaver has a 1' maintube.

The Sightron is a variable and the Weaver is a fixed power.

Which is the better choice? Only you can decide. And as with every such situation, it largely depends on what kind of shooting you intend to do.
