Scope Suggestions?

I am in the market for a scope for my first F class rifle. The rifle is an old Musgrave in a walnut stock and a 28" Medium Palma in a .308. I have been considering a Sightron 10-50LRFC but with some of the recent posts I am starting to wonder. I was looking at some Nightforces but they are close to twice the price and weigh more.

I am really confused at the moment. Do any of you have any good suggestions?

Keep in mind Im in Canada so pricing may be different up here.

Thanks

I own N.F. BR models, but have never owned a Sightron scope. I may buy 1 in the future because I've fired several rifles that had them mounted on them, and liked them. Why not look for a good used N.F. vs. a new Sightron price.

The Sightron is a great scope, but it will never be up to the same level as a March, what the Sightron is though is the best scope that you can buy for $1000, the Nightforce is the best at $2000. If you only have $1000 to spend then get the Sightron, if you do have a issue with it you can get it fixed as the warrantee service is wonderful. There is nothing wrong with being on a budget in shooting, you can then feel much better about beating the guys who have unlimited budgets and spent more on their optics package then you did on your rifle, optics, rest and the car you drove to the match in.

Have a look at Bushnell Elite 3200 can be had in Canada for well $1000 (Gagnon Sport Oshawa On. ).

I would not place too much credibility in the Sightron complaints. I've read a few bad reviews, but for every person saying they are not good scopes, there is 50-100 people that will say how good they are. I have 4 Sightrons. 2 SIII 8-32x and a couple SII versions. Totally reliable and repeatable. Would not hesitate to buy another one.

Once you reach the level of quality of the Sightrons, it is hard to make a better scope. I've compared my Sightrons to Night Force NXS scopes and I can't see the difference. I'm sure they are better but I can't see it and I don't need a scope so tough you can drive nails with it. At twice the price they should be better, but they are not twice as good. Small improvements at this level mean big increases in prices.

I would suggest a used Night Force BR model. You can pick them up for slightly more than a new Sightron. I would probably even buy one new as they really are a good value. I've looked though a few and I think they are clearer than the NXS models.

On the other hand, if you have more money than you know what to do with, buy the March. That is what I would do. Unfortunately, I live with a Sightron budget.
