I've used a Leupold VX-I in 4 to 12 with the long range dot. Two dots under the cross hair. It worked well shooting sage rats. I have 2 17HMRs now, both have 12X Leupolds w/ fine cross hair and dots.
Scope suggestions for a 17HMR "gator gun" John Deere, not the dinosaur kind

If you want compact, light, and FFP, these are great. locking turrets, but no zero stop. Surprisingly low price for the features. I have two, zero issues with em.
