Those inserts serve as a work-around for lapping. Nothing but a different way to address the same alignment issue.I avoid the need for lapping and high torque by using Burris Signature rings on all of my rifles;in addition to self-alignment, a secondary benefit is that the polymer bushings grip the scope tube very well. I've had no shift on my RPR .338 Lapua after shooting ~800 285-300 gr max loads.
