Scope Ring Bedding

When scope rings are bedded to a particular scope, lets say a N.F NXS or a Leupold 30mm tube, can another scope with a 30 mm tube be installed on the bedded rings with no mating problems such as improper alignment or leaving ring marks?
Thanks in advance.

Probably not........... Buy the Burris Signature rings and be done with it...
The rings fit so tight that I imagine any bedding material will be squeezed out before it did much good anyways.....

I'm confused! ??? Does the OP mean actually bedding the rings with bedding compound as used in bedding an action?

I dont know what you mean by OP, but yes, actually bedding the scope in the rings with bedding compound is correct.
The reason I am asking is I am having a custom rifle built and I am being charged for bedding the scope rings and the smith does not have the scope that I will be installing. So therefore I dont beleive the scope I have will mate to the rings properly and I cant get a response from the smith about this issue.

I may be mistaken but...

"lapping" rings is the most common truing procedure and it is universal because it just straightens the ring bores to each other.

I have never heard of using epoxy to bed a scope but I wouldn't doubt that people do it or have done it before.

Maybe the gunsmith was referring to lapping the rings when he said bedding...
As long as the rings were not removed from the rifle after it was lapped it should allow any other scope to set in the rings just fine..

I bed all my scopes in the rings. Here's a pair of Kelbly single screw rings I bedded four seasons ago. This set of rings has had 7-8 different scopes mounted in 'em over that time. -Al

Al. What did you use as far as bedding compound? Also did you lap the rings before bedding? Did you remove any material or did the bedding stick without much prep? Please elaborate on your process. Thanks
