Scope recommendations

I’m looking at getting a new scope for a browning 300wsm. I’m between 3 Leupold vx5hd zeiss v4 or nightforce shv all of which are between the 3-16 power and illuminated. Any suggestions? I’ve got several leupolds don’t have a zeiss or nightforce.

I was right where you are last year this time. I'd never owned a Leupold or Nightforce, but had an old Zeiss conquest on my heavy stand rifle. I've been very pleased with the Zeiss. My criteria were only two--hold zero and let me see well enough to place a shot 30 minutes after sunset on a cloudy day. I ended up with the Leupold with 44mm objective and it is working well for me. I fretted over getting the larger objective but the 44 takes me to the end of legal time. I'm not totally sold on the firedot but maybe it will help more as I age. My only criticism is that it doesn't have "clicks" for the horizontal adjustment, but once I got it sighted in I've not moved it. Hope this helps some.

I use both Leupold and NightForce. The Leupold MK5HD is wonderful. Whatta Hobby!

Vortex Razor LHT 3-15. Great mag range, excellent glass, excellent tracking, very well-done illumination, locking elevation turret, great reticle and low-weight for its features. I have 5 and they've tracked 100%.

I now have 3 Arken EP5 7-35x56 scopes and as far as im concerned, thats the only scope I will be buying for any of my long range rifles in the foreseeable future. Great glass, too tier turret construction, dead solid tracking, perfectly designed floating center dot reticles, and they are built like a tank! What more does a person need? They truly are the absolute best bang for your buck in market. They will easily compete, and likely win, against most scopes costing well over twice as much money. And I’ve owned many of the great brand name scopes from NightForce, Kahles, Swarovski, Trijicon, Zeiss, etc…Its just Arken for me now.

PS: The scope from DNT Optics is the same scope with slightly different reticle and a couple minor external cosmetic alterations so that’s another option

For me it all comes down to application. Since you said a Browning in 300 WSM, I'm assuming hunting. Everyone's hunting environment is different too.

For me, in SW Arkansas, we're heavily wooded and for most folks in my area, everything is done close. For my application, unless you have a big field or a high line to shoot on, a person doesn't need anything but a second focal plane scope with a reticle that's easy to see and your rifle set up for your maximum point blank range. That's for me and my area though.

That being said, the V4's that I've looked through, didn't impress my eyes. A VX5 is a great choice, IMO. As mentioned earlier, I'd also throw the Vortex Razor HD LHT 3-15 in the mix.

If I was searching for a scope right no I would buy the S&B from kscowboy. Should check all your boxes nicely. Bunch of scope for a good price. If I didn’t already have two I would but it.
