Scope Recommendation Needed

Scope Recommendation Needed

I'm refurbishing a super heavy vintage bench rest ( soon to be prairie dog ) rifle in 22-250. This rifle will be used for the longer shots. 400-600 yard shots ( I hope ! )

I thought about an older Unertl ..... But will also go modern. I do like the big
/ long scope look.

What is the right scope for the job ?
What specs / power do I need ?

I don't want to go too crazy on the price.

Thx

If you want to stick to the vintage look the unertl is the way to. I would go with a 16 or 20 power with the 1" tube and 2.5 front lens. Just be careful when you travel I would take them off and put them in the cab of the truck where the ride was better. I once went to SD to hunt praire dogs lucky for me I had 4 cross hairs in the 12x unertl one was broke before I went, one was broke when I got it out of the case, one broke on the first shot and the last one lasted the rest of the hunt and then I had them put a new one in it. I have since had them all refurbished.

It's worth looking for one.

Can't go wrong with an older Leupold 1 in. 6.5 - 20 x 40mm. 12 power is great for seeing what you hit when hunting and 20 is great for target. Also they are warranted for ever..... of course the 8-25x50 are nicer, but cost more. ;D

Looking for a Unertl try Dewy Greiner he has many for sale(320-589-4050)
I personally love the vintage look of a Unretl. I have 2 on 60's .222 Rem 700 Varminter Specials.

Thanks... I bought both of them new in 1975, and the rifle is on it's 6th barrel. Five barrels in 22-250, and now it's a 6mm (244) Remington.
