Scope recommendation, especially Burris

GentleBen, If you can't get a good sight picture with your SIII 8-32x56 something wrong with your scope believe me I own two of them and they simply blow my Leupold's LR 8.5-25X50 away no comparison. You need to read Jason's field compairson testing of the SIII 8-32x56 against a NightForce BR 12-42x56. This testing was done for 6mmbr members benefit as Jason has no vested interest in either scope. I have a new 10-50x60 fine cross hair on my 600/1000 BR rig and another 10-50x60 1/8" dot order for my VFS gun I recently purchased. So your going to have to prove it to me that there's anything out there better anywhere cose to their price range. I agree with you that the 1/4" dot is to large on the 8-32's for competitive shooting but they sure are the ticket on my long range p-dogs rifles. Sightron is suppose to offer their 8-32's with 1/8" dots soon. I got a as new in the box LR 6.5-20X50 with a target dot if your looking to trade that 8-32x56.

Regards
RJ

I guess that is why there are so any scopes to choose from ... different styles, different preferences, different prices, different shooters.

You may be right, I will see soon.

The Leupold (8.5-25x50mm VH reticle) is in and mounted. Looks as good as the other one I have (6.5-20x40mm VH reticle), and is bright, sharp and a great reticle. Just a little more powerful. And the tall turrets on the bigger lens is fine. All the bright white numbering and direction arrows are on the barrel instead of the top...will be nice not to have to look up top for settings.

For varmints in windy conditions consider the Horus Predator, makes wind a snap and you'll never forget clicks again.

Trip before last wind was 30+ MPH, hits between 400 to 700 yds were not an issue. At all.

Glass is clear, only complaint/suggestion is a very small grid ranging L in the upper quadrant just like the other scopes Horus makes would help, as something 6" tall is difficult to range by size beyond about 600 yds.

Yes, the front focal plane grid does get large above 20x, but the way to use it is to max zoom for ranging then dial back to 16x or less (most of the time 10x-12x) to shoot for guns that have enough recoil to lose target sight or help with mirage.

I have one, my PD buddy has 2, neither of us would give them up for something twice the price, its a tool for that specific job that works too well to give up.
