Scope or Red Dot?

Just finishing up a 458 Socom and trying to decide should I go with scope or red-Dot? I keep hearing about scopes getting wacked out of shape because of heavy recoil.

I have a 450 Bushmaster , lots of recoil..I started with a 4200 Bushnell I had laying in the gun safe. Could not get the gun shot in. Sent it back to Bushnell, they said nothing wrong with it. Don't know the outcome because I have never but it on another rifle. I put a 3x9x40 VXR Leupold on it, 4 years ago, no problems. Just my experience. Not knocking Bushenell, I have a 5x15 3200 AO that I love , I wish they still made it.
