Those inserts self adjust for perfect alignment. Clamp them down and that's it, Only "adjustment" is changing the insert thickness for height or windage.

Most factory rifles will have some misalignment of the base mounting holes. This plus the other advantages (wind, elev.) are what makes them so good.

Yes on the Picatinny rail. Those things are the way to go. My favorite, and I think the best, is Hank's precision......but the Rem short action / 0 degree / for 6-48 screws has been unavailable for many months. The EGW works fine. And absolutely use Burris Signature Zee rings, either 1" or 30mm, I don't use anything else.No ring marks and perfect alignment automatically.

I ran that leupold setup for many years and hunted it hard. I never had a problem.

I have many egw cheaper and the more expensive pic rails and an mdt. Never had a problem with amy of them. I prefer seekins rings, but no 1 inch which sucks. The expensive vortex think only has 1 height. MDT makes some 1 inch that look nice. I just got the mdt 34mm. They seem solid, but I prefer the seekins design.

I have never had problems with cheaper rings like warne, burris, and leupold either. I only buy seekins cuz I can.
