Scope Magnification

I have a Seekins Havak Bravo in 6.5CM that I will be using to shoot out to 1000 yards, it is equipped with a 20 MOA rail. Some benchrest competition out to 600 and general plinking out to 1000. I am looking at purchasing a Sightron SIII Precision Long Range scope in either 8x32 or 10x50 power. My question is, does the 10x50 magnification really provide an advantage for this type of shooting? Both scopes have 1/4 minute click value and I'll be selecting the MOA-2 reticle.

Thanks!

Last year i started getting into shooting more short range benchrest with a 223 Rem.
I found out quick the Sightron STAC 4-20X50 wasn't enough glass.
Purchased a SIII in 10-50X60 LRTD with 1/8" clicks.
I've only been able to use the whole 50 power one morning.
Otherwise i'm usually backed off to 28-32 power.

Unless your planning on using the MOA reticle for your hold overs, forgo that reticle and get the simple cross hair with target dot. Use the circles on the target itself for your windage holdoff.

I have a SIII 6-24x50? FFP MOA-2 & SIII 10-50 x 60 target dot. For that rifle ^^, I'd go 6-24. 24 is more than enough for steel at 1K. Second choice, 8-32. Distant 3rd, 10-50. I used to own a SIII 8-32 but sold it when I got the 6-24. To my eye, the 6-24 glass is better. That's not a benchrest rifle. I'm not knocking it. It's just a different tool for a different job. To me, the fun to be had with that rig is quickly engaging steel at various ranges, not trying to shoot tiny groups or score targets. And if you ever plan to hunt with it, that even strengthens my position.

I've gone from 20x to 40x and noticed my score improve. I can be more precise with wind holds. I like a bigger target, I can cope with the wobble and heartbeat without issue as I shoot offhand a lot.

Seems like you need another scope. This is probably not the best bunch to ask if another scope would be good or not...just saying...I can't imagine anyone here only having one scope, unless it's on a per-rifle basis, and I bet there are many that have more than 1 scope per rifle...LOL ($#!T happens! :) )
