Scope for wheelgun choice.

Hello
I have a Super Redhawk 44 Mag 9 1/2 inch barrel.
I put a Burris 2-7 on it.
I wish I had checked the eye relief on it prior to purchase.
It is 14 inches or so and it makes the Hawk weird to shoot to say the least.
What else is good for this application? General use not lying on my back shooting silhouette Thanks!

I like leupolds. They dont make them anymore but you can buy them on the used market often

If you have never used a handgun scope before, eye relief and acquiring a good picture can be tough.
Leupold,Burris and Bushnell all made some darn good handgun optics.
Bushnell had the most generous eye relief and why I preferred them, the Elite not the trophy.
You might try adjusting your X to what you can see best and easily.
Weird, does not give a good description of your issue.

They are called " red dots."

Yeah... using a scope on anything other than a bench rested handgun seems like a huge problem.

FWIW... iron sights are used on rifles of all sorts out to 600 yards and beyond with amazing effectiveness.

Red dots are just a simplified electronic form of iron sights. Without the need to align a front and rear sight. They are an especially good choice for older eyes.

Weaver has or had a 2x7 sold through Natchez. I bought a few because they were cheap and work really well. I haven't seen any in quite some time and mine are used for pistol silhouette in calibers from 22rf to 7mm IHMSA.

I have a pair of Bushnell Trophy 2-6x32EER scopes that I use for silhouette shooting. Glass is good and eye releif is at/near full arm extension so I can shoot from the Creedmore position. Not too expensive either.

Leupold 4x or a Burris fixed or low power variable works well but you will have to pick one up used. Burris does still make a 2x. The 2x Leupold for some reason makes the target appear smaller to me.
I have Weaver and TC 2x7 variables, both are compact and provide good eye relief.
A real favorite, mounted on my Dan Wesson is the long since out of production Nikon 1.5x4.5. Wish I had bought a dozen of them back then!

I have done the same before but now only will buy low fixed power scopes. I have a 2x Leupold on my 8 inch Dan Wesson and a 4x on my 357 Contender.

Red dots on most things but I do like the scoped pistols.

I've been 100% handguns since 1978. My revolvers have Bushnell Elites (the best), older Weavers (pretty good), Burris 2-7 BPlex(OK). The 2-8 Leupold is a little too big for revolvers. I also have UltrDots on a .500 Mag & .475 Linebaugh(they've held up good). Used AimPoint red Dots in past (OK,too).
For single shots the Burris 3-12X BPlex can't be beat. I have 12 of them on XPs, Contenders, Encores.

Most retail dealers have one pistol scope in stock and no experience behind the counter pistol scope use or comparison.
I put together a beam display of a dozen pistol scopes at a championship match for that very reason. The Wever came in 2nd to the US made Burris as the Weaver was more difficult to get the reticle centered on a target. Leupold was a distant fourth place.
The dots have no fixed eye relief in any configuration, reflector or tube, but they are very easy to cant by not paying strict attention or not having a bubble level mounted at the rear or inside the tube.
I have scopes and dots mounted on handguns both. I do like my Gilmore 2MOA dots with a bubble level.
