Scope for my Rem 700 V in 7mm-08

Another one I hear echo's about is a company called Minox. If I understand correctly, they use the same glass (Schott) that Zeiss uses.

That was another company I forgot to mention. All the reviews I've read complain about lack of edge sharpness in the field of view with all of their optics, but the rest of the features seemed pretty solid. Maybe they use the glass Zeiss turns away :)

Some reviews even showed pictures of a Minox scope's field of view compared to a Meopta and a Zeiss Conquest scope's fields of view. It was very apparent that the edge lacked sharpness in the Minox quite badly where the Zeiss and Meopta had crisp edge to edge picture. But that's something they can correct easily enough with enough feedback and input from people doing reviews on them. Might be something to do with the assembly process getting glue on the edge of the glass or something, I don't know...

Nonetheless, there's no doubt Minox seems to have what it takes to be a mid priced optics contender in the near future as well.

My hunch is the clarity and resolution are as much dependent on the film process as much as the glass is. Naturally superb glass is needed for a superb foumdation for superb optics. If you're able to view the video I sent you would see that Zeiss isn't letting amy secrets out in the process methods and controls.

Leupolds now can be compared to range rover vehicles, way over priced for what you get. I don't and won't own a leupold Vortex, sightron, and even Weavers blow the doors off them now.

I agree with you guys about Leupold. I just bought a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 with the BDC reticle today from Cabelas. Squirrel season started here in IL and I have a new Henry lever action .22 and I wanted a scope for it. I was at cabelas for a good hour and a half today looking at and through all the different scopes. I honestly believe when it comes to low powered scopes (3-9 or 4-12) all the top selling average brands are equal in clarity and quality. I couldnt tell a difference between the Nikon, Leupold or Bushnell. So why spend $150-$300 more for the Leupold??? The Nikon I bought has a life time warranty too. I went ahead and bought the Nikon because it was literally 60% cheaper than the Leupold. It had a $25 mail in rebate. I think Leupold makes great scopes! The problem is that they are way over priced! If they lowered the prices down alittle bit then I would only buy Leupold. Like I said the Nikon Prostaff was on sale. While I was at Cabelas 2 different guys bought that Nikon. Im sure brands like Nikon and Bushnell are killing Leupold sales! I would bet my next pay check that 75% of the people that buy the cheaper Nikons and Bushnells would rather buy the Leupolds. They dont because Leupold is over priced!

Been busy fishing in Orange Beach over the summer --I missed all the action--I wound up with a Nitrex on this gun-6-20X 50.. JMHO this is one of the best scopes I have used for the $$$ I compared it to my Nikon, Millet, Burris and Leupold during my PD hunt in May. It will hang in there with the Burris Leupold and Nikon all day and is a sight better that the Millet. Only down side of the Nitrex is that it does not have side focus.

As for the Leupold being made in the US I am not sure there are very many items at all that do not have some non-US content in them any more. Very few thing ALL --MADE in the USA 100% US content. Very sad really.
