scope for 500 yard target blasting

would like to hear your opinions on a decent scope for either my
6.5 creed or my 223 for average of 500 yard shooting..my t36
are too much i think as mirage is terrible on some days.
the main use is paper targets..aint got a lot to spend at this time
either..fixed income is a pain in the ass..so help me out ifin you

I use Leupold 6.5 x 20 target scope and happy with the range available for shooting. I use 20X most of the time but can trim down as necessary. Use it for hunting, targets. etc.

Using VX3 6-5 x20 50 on my Varminter and 8x25 on the ftr both with varmint reticles
and a Sightron s111 8x32 LRMOA excellent glass for the money can see 223 holes eeasily at 570 yards

if you need to see your bullets holes at 500yards i wouldnt be using a x20 scope ..been there and couldnt see anything , min would be a x30 odd+
i went from a 6.5x20 50 to a 12x42 56 and its was awesome.. i'm shooting 6BR and 243 at 547 yards on paper and have upgraded to the NF comp 15x55-52 now , even better

That's amazing. Must be the clean NZ air. Here in the highly polluted atmosphere of the US mainland it is sometimes possible to see .224 holes in the white early in the AM shortly after it begins to get light. Add direct sunlight plus mirage and .308 holes are tough at 500 meters even with the new Nightforce Competition of for that matter even my Kowa TSN-884.

I hear ys Dave..My weaver T36 is even too much at 300 yards is the sun and mirage is evedent..Thinking of reducing to maybe 20..My spotting scope willl alow me to see the holes at out 300 yard reduced targets for f cass...
