scope cushion to prevent scope bite?

years ago I saw a pic of thick soft ring that went over the rear bell to help protect against scope bite. now I cannot find one. I have been downloading my 300 win mag and my scope is closer to my eye than I would like (long story), I am fearful that if I shoot a full house load that I might get whacked. does anyone know what I am talking about?

thanks for everyone's help

Grit your teeth and shoot. I cant count the times I knew I was going to get whacked from my 300 wby and 338 win mag. Last elk I shot with my 338 I had to wipe the blood off my eye with snow before I could see if I hit her. Never missed a shot.

Pull that gun into your shoulder and shoot! Not saying that you can't get bit but when that happens to someone, it's generally due to poor gun handling for that particular rifle. I'm not sure what kind of gun you have but very few people shoot big calibers free recoil. So get on the gun and shoot it. If you still get scope rash, then buy a scope with longer eye relief. Lol! A brake will help tremendously if you are still worried about it. Come to think of it...the older I get, the smaller my guns get....or they get a brake.

Some time you can't or don't have time to get set up right to take the shot.
You make the choice of eating the scope or missing the chance.

Mount the scope as far forward as possible. You may even have to use extended rings and bases to accomplish this. Getting hit in the face is not an option and could be an issue if you damage glasses when you need them to drive etc.

I have been bit several times
,especially when shooting up hill steep angles while trying to balance on one foot. There are folks that have been bit then the rest that are going to get bit if they hunt rough country. The cover Davey boy suggested looks good to me
