Scope Base

I have a Leupold 8x25 scope that I'd like to use at a 600 Yd range, and was wondering if I needed a 20 MOA base for it, or can I get away with a 10 MOA, or a 0 MOA base as well? I'd like to hear your thoughts.
Thanx, Darryll

Darryll,

What caliber are you shooting? What speed? Those all factor in your decesions. If you shooting a magnaum caliber, you will not need any MOA base at all for 600 yards, assuming your scope is mounted around dead center). If you ever want/need to go farther, then your talking a different story.

I was going to use Federal Gold Medal Match 168 GR. The box says they are rated at 2600 FPS at the muzzle. I realize that this will vary with barrel length. I will be using a 24 IN barrel.
Thanks, Darryll

You should be good for 600 with 0 MOA base, but I would use a 20 MOA if I had the choice.
