Scope base: T6 or 7075 aluminum?

I need two scope bases for new Savage Target Action base 20's I'm putting together. I understand the fundamental differences between the aluminum T6 and 7075 alloys. Is there an appreciable benefit going with the stronger 7075 scope base for long distance ground squirrel shooting? The 7075 is 2 1/2 times the price.

Thanks for your thoughts.

All aluminum alloys, are alloys. Short answer: http://www.ehow.com/info_8078719_difference-between-6061-7075-aluminum.html

For this application the only significant difference that I can think of will be the performance of the threads-assuming the rings are well designed. Tempered 7075 will have stronger threads than 6061, which I assume is your T6. I believe, but am not certain that the 7075 will endure regular scope swaps better. The durability of threads has many factors beyond material-including thread/screw fits, finish of the tapped threads and screw, what you dope your threads with, and torqueing. I like Helicoils if aluminum parts need regular disassembly, but I have never seen coils in scope rings, probably for cost reasons. They can also bulk up very small parts with their extra diameter. The only aluminum rings that I have are 6061, and they suit that rifle fine. I prefer steel. I don't claim to be an expert in threads or materials, but there are plenty on this board who may have more to add.
