Schmidt and Bender 5-25 x56 PMII scope

Hi,

does anyone have any experience with the above scope? I know that they are meant to be the bees knees, however do they have the same reputation for tracking and mechanically as say an NXS nightforce?

Is it just price that they don't appear to be as common?

Thanks

Wayne

I have both the S&B PMII and Nightforce NXS, the S&B will do everything the NXS will do. Glass on the S&B better than NXS in my opinion. Of course, the S&B is first focal plane and 34mm tube and costs a great deal more than the NXS, for the money I still think the NXS is hard to beat.

Thanks,

With the S&B, what reticle did you go for? I have read a fair bit about FFP covering too much of the target at larger magnifications (I am thinking of using the P4 Fine reticle) , but it is hard to get a gauge on what distance and what size target this would be a problem - what is your opinion?

Thanks

Wayne

The P4 Fine is the one I have and at 25 power the recticle is fine enough for most shooting, for out right benchrest competition you may find better choices, just my opinion, I do a lot of shooting at 600 and 900 yard distances,

The P4 Fine covers about 1" of your target at 1000 meters/ 1100yds and I've yet so see a shooter who could utilize a finer reticle at that range ;)

I'll support brunr6mmBR in his statement, have used almost all the SuB PMII scopes.

Have made 4 films about LR scopes now, here is the first one and you'll see some details of the PMII there...

Awesome thanks guys.

Roe - vid was great, I have been wanting a zeiss (my choices were nightforce, zeiss and S&B...definitely down to nightforce and S&B now) for some time but after viewing the turret info I won't go there...thanks heaps.

WOW! Backassward elevation. That would be a deal breaker for me. Sort of like driving on the right all your life then going to England and causing an accident.

SuB PMII
3-12x50
4-16x50
5-25x56

can all be had with either CW or CCW elevation dial. Alex at Euro Optics probably have them in stock as well.

There is a Gen 2 model with second focal plane reticles - even more expensive than the FFP Gen 1 model unfortunately.

The optics really are superb at very magnification. We've had these scopes in the UK for three or four years now and the 12-50 for over a year. Everybody who has reviewed / bought one finds the resolution and clarity as good as it gets.
