King Richard recently had a whirl wind ten day tour of the 1000 yd Nationals at Hawks Ridge, N. C., the new Dead Zero 1,000 yd range in Dunlap, TN, the Dasher DOME, Dry Branch, and Vapor Trail. I met Richard in Cookeville, Tn and we drove over to Dead Zero. They have a complete club house that is actually a full fledge gun store selling guns and shooting supplies with a meeting room and a lounge area with big screen TV's. Absolutely first class. Then we proceeded to the range which is approximately a quarter mile drive through the woods. Once through the woods it opens up to this:
We happened to find Troy Lockhart and his wife Elaine at the range. Troy is ttfreestyle on this board and is the match director.
After an hour discussing the future of Dead Zero, we all went back to Cookeville for a late dinner at Cheddars. It was a great visit. Richard was very impressed with the range. Troy and his wife are great ambassadors for Dead Zero. Richard and Troy had met a year ago at the Nationals in Montana. Troy said they pulled into the parking lot and Richard was the first one they met asking them if they needed any help unloading. They shot the Nationals at Deep Creek and stayed over and shot the special 2000 yard shoot the next weekend near Deep Creek.
