Scar 17 Optics

Hi there!! Anyone here have any ideas about best optics for the Scar 17. I’m looking for magnification preferably in the $1,500 range. The vortex razor and Trijicon accupoint 1-6 are in my short list. Anyone have experience with either optic on their scar?
Or is there anything else I should look at?
Thanks

The Vortex razor is an excellent choice. For less money you can get the Vortex PST GenII for around $700. I have a PST and my friends have the Razor. We have traded them back and forth at the range. The Razor is not worth the extra money since the glass in the PST GenII is excellent. My friends get a little upset knowing they paid that much more in order to get really nothing over the PST.

I dont know anything about the Accupoint.

I agree with bullzeyenj.

I had a good go at comparing the Viper PST II 1-6 and the Razor 1-6. The optical performance was so close I could not tell which was better.

However... I had the pleasure of using a Trijicon AccuPower 1-8x28, and thought it was far ahead of the Vortex offerings in every way.

I have nothing against Vortex’s PST line as I have 2 of them however, SCAR 17’s have a rather harsh recoil impulse or more accurately stated, their forward stroke back into the locking step of their cycle of operations is very harsh on optics. I would hesitate putting anything less than their Razor line on one. There are a good amount of threads on other forums of SCARs eating lesser optics and as well as some anecdotes where the military has experienced this as well. Take it for what it’s worth and I hope whatever you use it works well for you.

For 1X application. The Aimpoint Micro, Aimpoint COMP5, COMP4, EOTECH will get the job done. Getting an good optic mount for one of these optics will ensure it stays tight on the rifle and absorbs the recoil impulse for the optic to last long.

a 2 MOA dot is the perfect size for rifle applications without being too small or too big. If you have astigmatism, you can use a magnifier scope to focus the dot.
