SCAM almost got me this time

I got a text on my cell phone this morning saying USPS couldn't deliver a package. I do have a package coming so it got my attention. Of course it wanted a name and address and then a .30 charge for re-delivery. I started filling out my information and I guess the brain kicked in. The tracking numbers didn't jive. So I called the ex to see if maybe she had something coming to me from her. Nope nothing from her but she told me to Google the tracking number and see what comes up. I honestly didn't know you can do that, so I did it. Turns out it is a total scam that gets all your information including a debit card or credit card number. Luckily I didn't include a card number and then deleted the whole thing. Beware out there, the scammers are getting tricky. Almost got me this time.

I got a text from Wells Fargo that my card had been used at a couple places. This has actually happened before and it was for real and my card number was somehow compromised but I was still in possession of the card. Then I got a call from someone claiming to be a Wells Fargo rep stating that someone has tried to log on to my account at a location in Texas. They then texted my what looked exactly like the WF log on screen to enter my account and password to change my password. It looked exactly like the real WF log in screen. I said I will handle it at the bank and hung up. The whole thing was a scam and my card was still good.
Scammers are getting really good.

I got a call from a scammer around 4:30 PM that utility worker is showing up at 5 pm to shut off my power. I held the scammer on the phone for 40 min. (Pretending I am paying with ZELLE, then a CC, then a bank transfer)

Here is the best part: I told the scammer, "utility just showed up, please talk to utility worker that I am trying to pay and it's not going through" and the idiot said "please put him on the phone" of coarse there wasn't anyone from utility.

Another 10 min goes by, then I tell the scammer:
"You know what you will really good at? Selling cucumbers and tomato on the street corner"

The guy told me "F%$@ YOU" and hung up on me.

I get the "Are you home yet Mary"?, "What have you been up to"?, Is this George? Not in my contact list, that number is immediately blocked and reported as spam.

I get calls that start with, Is this Steve or Bob or?. I tell them no Steve or Bob here. Then its, Well since I have you on the phone........click then block.

I got a real fraud alert email from Citi Bank. The email itself looked spammy, so I called the number on the back of my Citi Mastercard. Sure enough there had been a fraud attempt on my card. I told the representative that their email looked sketchy so I called. She said they were hearing that a lot and would be revising the email content. It was absolutely the right approach to call and not respond to the email.

I signed up for USPS Informed Delivery last year. Gotta say, this is probably the best thing they have to offer... You sign up by address and it shows everything coming to you in their system, mail and packages. Also shows a pic of the mail. This shows up in your email each morning. Also shows package tracking status. Obviously if it’s bogus tracking number it won’t be in the system…

totally agree! I signed up for it also because they hired a new delivery guy and he kept getting everyone’s mail mixed up. It was a way for me to atleast know what was coming so I could check them off and know if something’s missing. Funny, the bills always showed up though!

These were in my email. All scams.
