scaled down targets ( 600-1000 )

Ok let me first off say that I am really ready for my first match in May.I have been working on my load and getting the needed things to be ready for that weekend.I just hope that nothing here at home keeps me from going.

Now with that said my topic says it all.I have been thinking and maybe to much, already been told that I have, but the target itself keeps coming to mind.I am woundering if there is such a target, one that has a scale ( grid ) that will allow one to keep up with his/her hits.I'm really not looking to shoot this target but really want to be able to keep up with hits on a smaller layout for later use.I have an idea in my head and I've even played a little on papper.I think the grid part should be in inch form so one could make almost pin point marks that was made on a real target. One could transfer their hits to this target ( score target ) if I may call it that for now for later us.It would allow the shooter to look back at a target without having to drag out the real hudge target.

So I guess my question is is there such a thing or have I thought of something new.I too am sorry for asking if have asked a dumb question, again I am really new to what goes on in a match, but really wanting to learn as much as I can.Just thought my idea,if its an idea at all would be nice to have.I would think pulling out a 1000 yard target ( 6'x6' ) would be a pain to just look at it again.

thanks John

I am pretty sure that you are talking "F" class, because there is no way to even SEE your bullet holes at a 1K BR match without scoring disks. Even if you could, You wouldn't have time to look....IF you want to be competitive, that is. I can see my 30 cal holes through my scope at 600 yard BR matches, but, being a runner, don't look till after my group is fired.

My reason or goal is to have a target ( plot sheet ) so that when I need to look back I can pull out a simple sheet and not a 6"x6" target.I would later transfer the hits to the ( plot sheet ) so that when I need to look back at a target I can.I think this would help out in keeping up with how the load is shooting, even help out in reading wind.I am learning and think this will help me to get a better idea and game plan to learn and work with.

I understand 100% of not being able to see hits at 1000,it's hard to see them at 500.This is why when I am by myself at the range I take my 4wheeler.When I am with a friend one will get to the side of the target at 500 in a safe zone and call the hits back to the shooter.I then with a target ( same ) make x marks for the hits I just shot. This has worked out great for me,been able to make wind and elevation changes pretty fast this way.I feel that ounce I get the location and size of each ring of a 1000 yard target,I then will be able to call my shots better.
