I have been kicking an idea around in my head for a while now. So I decided to use this forum to see if I'm just a "flyer" or if there are others that have the same interest.

Currently, the US is the only country (that I am aware of) that does string shooting for the 1k F Class game for major matches. And we also are the only ones using the 10-X target.

How many, if any, others think that the US might want to look at adopting the ICFRA 2 or 3 to a mound shooting and limiting bullets to the "old" rule of <156 gr? And while we are at it, adopt the 5-V target as well. It would allow direct comparisons of scores between countries using the same procedures and target.

I know there will be some that want to flame me over this, but let's not let it get there.

I am just curious.

I'm all for the 2 or 3 to a mound and a 5V target. 156 gr or less bullets? I guess if everyone else was chootin'em, why not? Could be fun.

I think your idea kicked you in the head.

OZ shoots string with 5 V. for sling. Use same target for F Class with a smaller 1/2 MOA ring called X ring. For F Class 5 =5, V =6, X= 0.1. So you can shoot a 59.9 and come second to a 60.0. The X count is also used for count back for ty breaks starting from the last shot. Sling, FO and FTR all shoot at the same time on the same targets manual or ETs.
The NRAA web site has the target dimensions for all ranges and scoring procedures.
Bisley style shooting doubles or trebles the time you are lying down in the sun, now think about health issues this will highlight and problems. I shoot into the 40s Celsius so my time down gets shorter the higher the temperature. I shoot F/C so I am not suited up like the sling shooters who dehydrate badly quickly.

Warren the ICFRA rules include the Australian type of string fire along with our way and the 2 or 3 to mound. The Australian method has a squad of shooters who rotate firing one after another while being timed by other squad members. I had the USA type string firing added to the ICFRA rules prior to the 2013 Worlds in Raton. So we are not the only ones who are different from the English. The Australian's also have a target with '6's' on I gather.

I personally think there should be one rule book for all across the world. However each style of shooting has its place. I enjoyed bisley style after only ever shooting strings.
