savage ??

No,replace it with the rifle basix made for it.They made them unadjustable and they are purely a lawyer based trigger.A new trigger will work wonders on his grouping as well.

I don't know anything about the axis rifle, but I assume there is a spring that could have a turn cot off and the trigger and sear could be polished along with a little lube on the trigger pivot point. Shouldn't be much effort to get the trigger down to 3, maybe 2 pounds. IF he doesn't want to spend money on a new trigger. I would also assume anyone buying an axis rifle doesn't have a LOT of extra money laying around.

i found ou youto several showing to cut 1 coll off the spring or replace it with a lighter spring. i will try that.
the axis is a cheep gun but while helping him work up a load with 95 gr bt and varget powder i was shooting 1/2" and 3/4" groups at 100 yards. we were not at max and have 2 more loads to try. i think i will wait till we get the trigger lighter.

I have a savage axis in 22/250 that i won at an nra banquet. i was pleasantly surprised with its sub moa performance. I couldnt stand the trigger though... if I remember right the stock pull weight was pretty high but I dont remember the number. I watched some vids on youtube then went down to ace hardware and replaced the spring and got it to just under 2 pounds. its nothing special but for about $3 i bought a handful of springs to try. I would highly recommend this upgrade. It costs almost nothing and is a significant improvement. Its been shooting great ever since, no problems to speak of. It makes a great fun gun that you don't have to worry about taking impeccable care of. Also you may consider sanding the the stock down a bit if its hitting the barrel so that the barrel is free... my stock was pressing on the barrel pretty hard.

i put a spring out of a G2 pin in and the pull weight went from almost 7 lb. too 3lb 12 oz. i could cut the spring and get it lighter but will use it this way to start with.

i slammed it 8-10 times and hit the but stock on the floor, with out any ad's . that is why i left it at just under 4lbs. if it does fire ad i will let you know.
