savage

I do not have a Savage in 300 WSM, but I do have them in several other chamberings. You really can't go wrong with them, with just a bit of tuning they shoot great, no matter what they are chambered in.

I second that motion, and if you dont like the barrel, you can change it in 15 minutes with just a few tools.

One of my savages is 30-06 and shoots lights out w/a 125g JSP, great antelope load!
Same w/my 7-08.
Sorry like others I dont have it in 300wsm.

I dont believe Savage employs a QC department, so if you get a good one , you have a good one. If the tolerances stack or I should say pile up, youve got a mediocre rifle or even a stinker. I have a handful of them. The 7mm WSM is an impressive fly swatter. Put the crosshairs on a fly at 200 yds and all you have left is spatter. Very serious accuracy. My MLII is fantastic but finicky. I have a 12BVSS in 300WSM and it had a host of manufacturing irregularities, and as a target rifle is at bet mediocre. And did I mention you need to wear a glove on yer rt hand to keep the bolt handle from bruising your trigger hand 2 badly. Cross your fingers and put your money on the counter, you may be pleased.

interesting! I own two 99's, and maybe five bolt guns, and all were or are outstanding. Maybe they like me!

Strange, sorry to here of your unfortunate issues. I have 5 and all are very accurate to extremely accurate. Many friends and family of mine also enjoy their accuracy, not all are target shooters but they still recognize accuracy with quality handloading

I have four savage bolt guns , never a problem and all very accurate out of the box , and lots of aftermarket parts available if thats your thing.

I have a model 14 300 wsm with 165 ballistic tip and imr 4831 shoots right aroun 2" groups at 300 yrds. what more could you ask for from a hunting rifle right off the shelf?

I have a bunch of savages and they all shoot good and have rebarrel several with pre fits from shilen, mcgowen, criterion, and the next one will be mcgowen or brux. The savages become an addiction because you can do it yourself at home for the most part.Ptg has come out with a few really nice parts and there are a host of others that I can list but it would take awhile.

Savage has become a well respected rifle. I own 12 of them now. Out of the 8 that i have fired TWO had to b returned to the factory for new barrels. Bad chambers. Both would not extract a fired round and one was shooting 3' to the left so it had another issue on top of the chamber. They said the threads were over sized. The others are awesome right out of the box. Its kinda like a crap shoot.

Savge has some QC problems yes,
not the best looking rig by far
unless your looking at the target.....
Savage has the most accurate design period........
not the best cosmetics, or even quality
just the BEST - MOST ACCURATE DESIGN
thats why 5 major gunmakers are coping the DESIGN
imitation is the most sincer form of flattery
all mine shoot .5 moa & better
until I bought my 1st savage I thought the best I could shoot was moa
easy to tune -change calibers,
I've purchased several high $ 2 stage triggers for my x brand rifles
none can even come close to a ACCU TRIGGER
I can SAFELY adust my accu triggers under a lb
a 30.00 trigger out performs my 375.00 triggers
if my life depended on my rifle
Id rather have the cheapest Savage -Stevens -Axis made
than any other brand
BETTER BY DESIGN

I have two Savages LRPV in 6BR and 12BR in 6.5x284. They both shoot so well they make me look good. Just ordered a Savage action (Target) for a 30BR barrel I have. I think they are the most accurate rifles out of the box by a long shot.

Re: savage/rifles

If you are wanting a big 30 caliber..I'd be inclined to buy an older one in 30-06 ...At say half the price or less than a new one...I've done many rebuilds using any odd savage action & adding the barrels/chamberings I want...It is the tool shed gunsmiths dream rifle...Triggers, barrels, bolt heads & stocks can be switched in mins. At minimal cost to upgrade. Two of mine sport custom barrels. The older Adams & bennets barrels shoot very well..243 & 35 whelan...Right now I'm waiting on a Pac-nor in 243 winchester...Even the sporter weights from the factory shoot better than most can hold, I have one in 22-250 remington I will not part with...Enough said??? Ask any questions you want, You can do a lot worse than buying a Savage rifle..Oh & I love my Sako, Remington & Winchester bolt rifles as well..But I shoot the hell out of my Savage built actions..Mike In Ct
