Folks in need your help

I want to buy a rifle in a 300wsm,which one should i get

Vanguard
winchester 70
savage
remington 700

Thanks Rich

They all will shoot good, if you get a good one 'O)
Do some research and buy the one you like...

Either A Rem. 700, SPS, stainless model in 300WSM or perhaps a savage 110 base model will do well. I own the 700 in 300WSM and it has accounted for many African plainsgame animals. I took a mountain goat, a good mulie and will use it again in South Africa soon. Savage rifles are very good and either will please you. Both have lots of after market products available. Good luck! MTG

I really like the Vanguard/Howa rifles. I had one in 30/06 and it was a tack driver. Sold it to a fella that needed it more than me, kinda wish I had kept it in hind sight. Personally I feel the Howa is the best rifle in its class and recommend it on a regular basis for those who don't want to break the bank on the higher priced rigs. But any of the rifles mentioned would work just fine.

I just finished making that decision and the Weatherby Vanguard S2 was the winner. I owned a couple original Vanguards in the past and sold them, but the S2 is a keeper. Guaranteed MOA accuracy, integral recoil lug, fluted bolt, and nice set trigger..

Tikka T3 is another good one, but may be a little lite for a WSM.
Savage would be next.

I have a Tikka T3 Lite in 300 WSM and it shoots 0.5 MOA and would consider adding that to the list. It is very light and does hurt a bit though.

Rich - some guys like Chevy's, other guys like Fords, and each has his own reasons for preferring one over the other. I'd suggest you make up a comparison outline and compare each 300WSM model from each manufacturer and read all the reviews you can find so you can compare features, style, weight, pricing, etc. and make your decision based on that data. I'd try to sell you a Remington (my preference) but you may not like it as well as a Weatherby Vanguard or Howa.

Out of the guns you have mentioned, the howa/vanguard and the Tikka would be what I would consider. The remingtons seem less refined then they used to IMHO. I never seen a Howa/vanguard or even the old S&W 1500's that did not shoot more then decent........ The tikka seem to be of very good quality as well.

I have a nice Browning A-Bolt.

I agree. I wouldn't buy any of those on the list before I bought a Browning.
60 degree bolt throw for ultimate scope clearance, hinged floor plate with drop out magazine, and as reliable as they come in the field. Not bad triggers either if you have the touch to work on them.

They'll all shoot good, but a Browning will shoot as good as any, if not better, PLUS give you high quality materials and craftsmanship at a mid price range. A lot more bang for your buck with a Browning A-Bolt or X-Bolt.

All that you mentioned are good .Something you need to be aware of the recoil is not pleasant
My self I would find someone who would let you try one. Then you choice what ever you want.
A 308 would be my choice for thin skin animals and target shooting.I have a heavy weight 300 weatherby that i have used for 55years i usually shoot it 3 times a year i have taken2 for pratice and one for kill. Then I take my 308 .I have taken 23 hogs this year never lost one.
Good shooting Larry

I have a Remington VSSF in 300 rsaum that is surprisingly accurate and very little recoil shooting 185gr Berger VLDs.

The cool thing is all the aftermarket parts for remington and savage. That is why I choose those two for myself.

I have a Remington Model 7 and it shoot 1/2" MOA and better. A good light weight hunting rig, been very pleased with it shooting 180 Accubonds.

If you're looking for an out of the box gun that you don't plan on changing I'd say Tikka for sure. I'm a Savage fan personally but those Tikka actions feel awesome. The huge downfalls "IMO" are the detachable box mag and lack of aftermarket stocks if you don't like the factory Tikka.
