savage striker bolt locked

The broken end of the pin[it broke thru the firing pin hole of course]appears to be on the edge of the hole not allowing it to move.Tried the rubber mallet to the side of the receiver trick still no go.If I pull the barrel and back of the bolt I could possibly drive the bolt out the front of the receiver but risk gouging the bolt and receiver bolt race way.I called Savage and they said send it in but I would like to talk to an actual service person first. It is one of my primary hunting pistols and I hate for it to be down.At least I have some time before season rolls back around.

Send it back to Savage before you bugger up the Striker to the point that they blame you for the problem and charge for the repair accordingly. This can't be the 1st time they have seen this problem after all you've had it TWICE. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. Savage has asked you to return and that's a BIG 1st step. Just my .02 .......... Hope it all works out for you :)

Any way to get something slim & thin like an X-acto knife blade at it just enough to loosen it to where it will move? junebug I know you've been around so you might have already thought of something like that. Good luck, keep us posted on the fix.

Might try dropping the end of the action or the whole thing if it fits in your brass tumbler. Vibration can be a powerful thing. Wrap the edges of the action with tape if necessary.

Should send it to Savage. Sounds to me like the retaining pin is taking pressure that the lugs are designed for. Freeing up the bolt and gearing up for another failure is poor judgment.
