Savage Stock work

On the Savage F-Class stock, the rear is flat. I was wondering if there was some way i could make that thiner and more ponited to fit my rear bag. I have a protecktor bunny ear bag. Is this a good idea or should I stay away form this? I really dont want to have to buy another bag. The wife wouldnt be happy.

Josh, 2 things: the Savage 12 Benchrest stock comes thinner on the bottom (about 1/2 " across) if you can find someone to trade. I think it has the same inletting as the F class.

I have seen an F class stock that was shaved down just like you were planning. It was very professional done and worked very well for the owner. He also added a bit of drop to the bottom edge. If you have the skills and tools....go for it.

you could also get a different rear bag. That would cost you whatever the price is for the rear bag. If you shave the stock yourself, then it will cost you nothing. I guess it would depend on what you want to spend, and your ability to shape a stock.
