Savage Special Orders Shop?

Has anyone here ever worked with the Savage Special Orders Shop to get a specific Savage order? I'm looking to get a Savage 110 Elite Precision sans (without) chassis, muzzle brake, butt stock, etc....just wanting a barreled action.

Has anyone done a Custom deal like this with Savage? How was your experience.

Why not have someone here build what you want with a custom barrel. Cost would be competitive.

If it is a “game” rule it has to be a factory rifle, I understand.
If no, I looked at what you mention above years back.
I ended up buying complete rifle for an action, sold everything I didn’t need and was in the action for way cheaper than I could buy a new virgin action.
New barrel and nut, stock of my choice I was happy.

I built up a Savage 10 FCP-SR in 6.5 CM basically by buying the base gun (for the barreled action) and did my own build with everything I wanted for less than $2K. Ended up with a sub MOA gun and wanted to do the same in .338 Lapua without having to sell the stock and muzzle brake, etc.



With Savage rebate I had less than $500 in the base rifle. I'd love to do the same thing with another Savage and be able to swap stuff between the two rifles.

Nothing recently...

I have had several guns built by the Savage Special Order Shop.

All came out just like I expected and wanted.

Savage is quick to distance itself from the term “custom,” as its service uses standard production parts to assemble the guns, and they receive no extra fine-tuning above and beyond what the main line firearms are subject to.
