I have a Savage Model 10 Top Bolt Release, Stagger feed, blind mag 223 with a Model 12 heavy Varmint barrel on it that I am contemplating rebarreling. It has served me very well but the barrel is just getting tired. The action and trigger on this are a dream which is why I want to keep it.
I am for now looking at another 223 barrel with a fast twist to shoot 80gr bullets or maybe moving to a 22ARC to shoot these heavier bullets. Considering that I have in-house a large supply of 75, 77 and 80gr bullets already that will not shoot in the 1:9 factory barrel.
I love shooting the 223 and just did so again the other day but I am also curious and impressed with what I now an seeing in the 22ARC. Also I am now shooting a 6ARC bolt rifle and am finally getting it figured out as to what it likes and needs.
Chambering for either is not an issue as again this is already a 223 and I also have a Savage bolt head for the ARC that I can swap out.
Thoughts?
