Savage problem

I put a rifle basix trigger on ,it's the 1-3lb one,in my aftermarket stock when I tighten the rear action screw down, when I close the bolt the trigger releases, sometimes, not all the time.
I haven't looked into yet,but I figure I probably need to remove some material somewhere, just wondering if you guys can tell me what to look for?

Make sure the trigger shoe isn't contacting the trigger guard and try it out of the stock then sitting in the stock and then tighten it right down and remove it and a spot should show in the wood where it is compressed or rubbed , then remove the bit of wood.

+1

Some put a little shoe polish on the trigger.
It rubs off on the wood.

Yes,I'm thinking it's hitting or binding up on something, only does it when it's tight,I can loosen it up or take the whole action out and it works fine

I've had it where the trigger is contacting the top of the trigger guard. Just used my dremel to grind a little off the top. If I remember correctly it contacts the top of the guard towards the front of the trigger guard just forward of the trigger shoe cutout. You can take it down a bit and it won't be visible when it's in the stock.

You can also grind a little off of the trigger. I rounded/tapered that square front of the trigger. Not the trigger shoe.

Make sure the stock is inletted enough for the trigger.

DITTO! Experienced that issue myself and after my Gunsmith dremeled the stock slightly (where the trigger fits), the problem went away.
